World-renownedfeng shui Grand Master Tan Khoon Yongshall be holding his first solo art exhibition ‘I-Ching with Arts’ from 29thMarch till 13th April 2014 at Parkview Green Art 798.

Comprisingclose to 80 artworks painted by Mr. Tan Khoon Yong, this exhibition has fivesegments, namely Taiji, Yin & Yang, Five Elements, NinePalace Flying Stars and I-Ching. Eachartwork is paired with the artist’s self-penned poetry. While visual arts canstimulate direct emotions from the viewer, gentle poetry can further convey theinner thoughts and emotions of the artist. Hence, the best of both worlds arebrought together to provide the audience an ultimate viewing experience.

With close to 30 years of experience in the feng shui industry, Mr. Tan Khoon Yong is a veteran in I-Ching studies. His expertise on thissubject that commands logical thinking inspired him to infuse logic andemotions through five series of intuitive artworks. This leads to theintriguing exhibition, ‘I-Ching withArts’. 

Yin& Yang

Allmatters in the universal exist as a cause and effect of Yin & Yang. Being complementary opposites, these opposingforces interrelate with each other to create phenomenal changes. In thissegment, the colours black and white were used extensively to veil vast changesand hidden insights.   

Five Elements

Believedto wield great influence on the universe, the Five Elements mark the source ofuniversal changes. Their creative and destructive relationships, incorporatedwith Yin & Yang, give rise tovibrant and colourful artworks.

Nine Palace Flying Stars

It is believed that there are Five Elements on Earthand Nine Palaces in Heaven. If the Five Elements represent constant changes,then the Nine Palaces denote the foreknowledge. With reference to the NinePalace Flying Stars, the artist created nine visual art pieces that showcasedifferent formations and influences, promising to spark imagination.        

Taiji

Taiji comprises philosophies of Yin & Yang and the Five Elements atdifferent stages. In this segment, the artist expresses the unique concept of Taiji by placing emphasis onwestern-style art with a twist. Chinese ink painting techniques were applied tobreathe life into these artworks.

I-Ching

I-Ching encompasses TaijiYin & Yang,Five Elements, Nine Palaces and Ba Guatheories. Through observation, logical thinking and statistics etc., I-Ching can be used to make prognosis onmatters relating to Heaven, Earth and Man. In this segment, an open dialogue onI-Ching and art underlies a uniqueblend of logic and emotions. Audience can look forward to explore I-Ching through a new perspective ofart.
