Parkview Green Art is honored to declare the opening of“Inevitability”, the Chinese-German artist Li Heng’s solo, at the exhibitionspace in Parkview Green in Beijing on July 8, 2016. Showcasing the artist’srecent representative works and new trends in experiment, this exhibition, theartist’s first solo in China, will last until august 15, 2016.

The grass series on exhibition this time, according tothe curator, is not a one-dimensional portrayal of the “objectivized” grass ornature in material form that the grass represents; instead it is a grandperformance in the pictorial space that the grass gives as pictorial languageand spiritual vehicle. The growth and transformation in Li’s art during thenine years tell of how the artist, in different countries and different artcontext, succeeded in finding his own pictorial language and interpreting theuniversal meaning of “human nature”.

Li studied in several important art schools, like MiddleSchool Attached to CAFA (China), Repin Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg(Russia), Akademie der Bildenden Künste Nürnberg (Germany). In 2010 hegraduated with the title of “Masterclass” from Akademie der Bildenden KünsteNürnberg in 2010, and has since then settled down in München. First-class arteducation in China, Russia and Germany give him deep awareness of bothclassical and modern art, as well as cross-cultural vision and keen artintuition.

“Inevitability”, as title, comes from one of Li’s worksin October 2013, but it also has something to do with an accident in his lifethat brought him not only unforgettable physical pain but also mysterioustranquility in his inner world. The exhibition is thus named to recount theconfrontation between destiny and art, to explore how such profound contingencycan influence from within the way an artist thinks, as well as to highlight thespirituality and sense of fate that are involved in Li’s painting.
